HAI PHONG UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY
Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy (HPMU) was established in 1979 and next year will mark the 40^th anniversary of its founding. During its history, the university has managed to develop on a grand scale, with 7 academic faculties, 34 independent academic departments, 2 research centers and a University Hospital. It is now the home of about 7,000 students, studying in 8 majors: Medicine, Preventive Medicine, Traditional Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Technology, and especially, Marine Medicine - the unique program among public Medicine and Pharmacy universities in Vietnam. The university is situated in the heart of Hai Phong, the “Harbour City”, which is located at the northern coastal area. Hai Phong is not only the major port of Vietnam but also has a very beautiful and resourceful World Heritage/Biosphere Reserve Area – Cat Ba Archipelago, and also connects to the Halong Bay, the most attractive tourist destination in Vietnam.
Our Faculty of Pharmacy is one of the young but fastest growing pharmacy faculty in Vietnam. During its 7 years of operation, the faculty has evolved and being the pioneer faculty in Clinical Pharmacy Education and Marine Medicinal Research. The Faculty has hosted several international events including: the 13^th Asian Conference on Clinical Pharmacy, 4^th Asian Association of School of Pharmacy-Deans Forum and a number of national conferences. From the establishment of the 5-year Pharmacy Program with 50 students in 2012, the faculty is now receiving 100 undergraduate pharmacy students annually and will start to accept postgraduate students in Clinical Pharmacy next academic year. With a Research Center of Marine Medicinal Resources and close cooperation with Institute of Medicinal Materials-Ministry of Health; Institute of Marine Environments and Resources and Institute of Marine Biochemistry-Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, our Pharmacy Faculty has paid a considerable contribution to the research and development of new products from Vietnam Marine Resources.
