History

1980 - 1999: Division of pharmacology was established and operated.

1979: Hanoi Medical University was established the Second Campus in Haiphong.
 1980: Division of Pharmacology of Haiphong campus was established with three faculty members and two technicians.
1985: The Second Campus was renamed to School of Medicine Haiphong Campus, Hanoi Medical University.

1999 - 2011: Department of Pharmacy was established.

1999:  The Prime Minister of Vietnam decided to establish Haiphong Medical University based on School of Medicine Haiphong Campus of Hanoi Medical University. Haiphong Medical University given full administrative independence, as one of 6 National Public Medical Universities in Vietnam. Department of Pharmacy developed on the basis of division of pharmacology since 1999, focused on teaching pharmacology for medical students.

2011: School of Pharmacy was established.

2004 – 2005: the preparation for pharmacy education at university level started.
2006: Ministry of Health Vietnam approved the development strategy of Haiphong Medical University to expand it’s mission to include academic programs on nursing, medical technology, dentistry, traditional medicine, public health and pharmacy in addition to medical program.
2011: Ministry of Education and Training officially allows Haiphong Medical University to educate pharmacist at university level, 5 years program.

June 22, 2011, School of Pharmacy is established and officially enrolls students for pharmacy education. Haiphong Medical University was then re-named as Haiphong University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
